We’ve all seen the teasers, but now we’ve finally got our first glimpse at the next horror classic from Jordan Peele. Dropping early on Christmas morning, the trailer for ‘Us’ reveals a terrifying new chapter in Peele’s cinematic masterpieces. The movie pairs ‘Black Panther’ stars Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke as they play a couple headed towards a well needed vacation.
Nyong’o stars as Adelaide, a young woman returning to her childhood home in Northern California. Despite the idealistic getaway, Adelaide can’t help but shake the feeling that something bad is going to happen to her family, and she may not be able to protect them. Jordan Peele spoke briefly about the film, saying “It was highly important for him to select an all-black cast as the starring family.” This time around though, the dynamic will be wildly different than that of his last hit film, ‘Get Out.’
Peele assures us that this time the film isn’t centered around race or racism, but rather the inherent fact that we are our own worst enemy. As the trailer progresses, we see exactly what this means, as the family is confronted by monsters that remarkably resemble themselves.
‘Us’ releases March 15th in theaters nationwide. Check out the first official trailer below:
