The Walking Dead just landed a huge name to fill a major role for the upcoming 9th season of the show. ‘Sons Of Anarchy’ star, Ryan Hurst will officially join the cast as ‘Beta’ as the second in command of the ferocious group, The Whisperers. Fans have been speculating when and where the feared group will show up, and with this casting announcement, we know it’s imminent. What’s more important here, is that the group will show up as Andrew Lincoln is exiting the show. This means we’ll most likely see a different take on the biggest conflict from the comics looming.
Those familiar with the story from the comic, know exactly how deadly Beta can be. He’s viewed as a fearless leader, and is wildly committed to maintaining the reputation of The Whisperers. Beta is never seen without his walker-skin mask, and he is fiercely loyal to the true leader of The Whisperers, Alpha. Beta is known to be extremely lethal, killing people without remorse, even those within his own group. Later in the comics, it’s discovered that he’s actually a former NBA star turned actor during a confirmation with two Alexandrians.
Ryan Hurst joins Fantastic Beasts alum, Samantha Morton as the biggest new additions to the season 9 cast. Morton will be playing Alpha, the true leader of The Whisperers, and the single biggest threat to the Hilltop and Alexandria communities. The Whisperers are known for their penchant for wearing the decomposed body parts and skin of walkers. They get their name because they communicate through whispers and mimicking the sounds of the dead.
Season 9 of The Walking Dead will return to AMC in October. Season 9 marks Andrew Lincoln’s final season on the show, and will undoubtedly deviate heavily from the source material of the comics going forward. Either way, season 9 is already sounding incredibly exciting.
