Back when the initial trailers for the upcoming live-action Sonic The Hedgehog movie dropped, the internet was in an uproar. Fans and pseudo film critics took to social media to voice their displeasure about the awkwardly human-looking CG Sonic. The trailer was met with so much disappointment, the incumbent director Jeff Fowler apologized and promised to make it right as soon as he could. Six months later, the awesome redesign of Sonic debuted in a newly released trailer.
This is the Sonic of my youth. The redesign does look much better, and the character feels more like the Sonic from the video games and animated series. Fowler himself took to Twitter to express his excitement over the new-look Sonic, and thanked fans for their patience. Now that the main character has an improved look, let’s hope the movie itself ends up being equally as awesome.
Today is the DAY! Could not be more excited to share our new Sonic with you. THANK YOU for your patience and support. This wouldn’t have been possible without the fans. #SonicMovie— Jeff Fowler (@fowltown) November 12, 2019
