Netflix just dropped the first official trailer for ‘The Punisher’ season 2, and it looks incredible. At the end of season one, Frank Castle fought valiantly, killed mercilessly, and earned a pardon for all his vigilante justice. This season, he’s picking up right where he left off. Still searching for justice for the loss of his family, and in the process, starting a brand new war against a familiar, yet deadly foe.
In the trailer, we see a newly emancipated Castle working in a bar. He’s immediately thrust into action when a young woman is attacked, and he’s given “no choice” but to act. It’s this action that proves dangerous, and gets him involved in another bloody street war. This time his nemesis is named “Jigsaw” the alter ego of Billy Russell, who was Castle’s main enemy in season one.
If the trailer serves as any indication, the violence in season two will be off the charts. Castle has never been a man to do things softly though, so brutality is to be expected. There’s been no word on whether or not there’ll be a third season however, as Netflix has gone on a cancellation spree with Marvel shows. Luke Cage, Daredevil, and Iron Fist have all seen cancellations after their second seasons aired. It will be interesting to see if Bernthal’s version of The Punisher sees the same fate.
Marvel’s ‘The Punisher’ returns to Netflix January 18th.
