Marvel’s Black Panther just keeps getting more and more promising. The upcoming Marvel flick will not only boast a collective who’s who of Black Hollywood, but it will now get a fresh new track from your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper, Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick has been on a tear as of late, blessing songs with verses and leaving a path of melted mics and destroyed vocal booths on his way to becoming one of hip hop’s true greats.
Black Panther also looks to be one of Marvel’s best films yet. It will feature a superhero that is not only filthy rich, but also happens to be the leader of a technologically advanced nation in Africa. If it sounds like I’m hyped about this, it’s because I am. T’Challa has long been one of my favorite Marvel characters, and it’s awesome to see that he’s finally getting a stand alone movie, with a stellar cast, and solid director attached to the project as well. Black Panther made his big screen debut in the ‘Avengers: Civil War’ film and immediately turned heads as his character was a strong-willed, fierce warrior capable of standing toe-to-toe with Marvel giants Tony Stark and Steve Rogers. This movie promises to be another piece of epic story telling from Marvel.
I can’t wait to hear what the final product sounds like, but for now we’ll have to settle for a short snippet. A teaser for the new song was cleverly tucked into Kendrick’s new single “LOVE” featuring Zacari off his critically acclaimed album ‘Damn.’ Check out the video for ‘LOVE’ and the latest trailer for Black Panther below. Black Panther will hit theaters February 16th, 2018 and it stars Chadwick Boseman, Angela Bassett, Michael B. Jordan, Forest Whittaker, Danai Gurira, and Lupita Nyong’o.
