Another year, another Gear. Gears of War 5 finally got an official announcement trailer, and it happened during the Xbox keynote during E3. The game will center around Kate Diaz, a kick-ass female character that made her debut in Gears 4. While official story details are pretty much non-existent at this point, the trailer hints at there being more to Kate than meets the eye. This leads the team on a side mission to help Kate figure out exactly who or what she is, without compromising the original mission.
Gears 5 is being heralded as the “biggest, most beautiful Gears game ever created.” It’ll support 4K Ultra HD resolution, HDR, and it’ll run at 60 FPS. Gears is an exclusive Microsoft property, so when it launches, expect it to only be available on Xbox One, and Windows. In addition to a wildly intense single player campaign, Gears 5 will also feature local split screen co-op, and online co-op as well.
For now, check out the official E3 reveal trailer below. Expect to see the game released sometime in 2019.
