It’s here! It’s finally here! The first trailer for Season 7 of Game Of Thrones debuted today, and it is awesome! The Great War is here, and the trailer perfectly encapsulates the conflict abound. The trailer opens with Cersei sitting in a room with a giant map showcasing strategic battle plans, and the locations of her adversaries. Arrya Stark appears to be headed North, but there’s no telling if she’s going towards The Wall, or back home to Winterfell. Daenerys and her massive army looks to have arrived at Dragonstone, which is a central location for her battle strategy.
This trailer seems packed to the gills with plot details, but it’s done in a way that is very deceptive. Perhaps the most telling thing from the trailer happens to be the battle scenes. We all know that the White Walkers are going to show up and tear everything too shreds. It looks like that might be saved for next season though, as every battle fought was between humans. The Dothraki, Wildlings, and Dragons are all shown fighting amongst each other, but not one glimpse of the undead. The producers of Game Of Thrones have already said this season will move fast, so expect to see massive conflict sooner than later.
I’m most curious to see how the dynamic between Cersei and Jamie ends up playing out personally. Jamie is known to be fiercely loyal to his sister lover, but has also shown glimpses of tremendous consciousness. I’m genuinely curious to see if he’ll continue to stand by while Cersei goes super killer on everyone, or if he’ll try to put a stop to the madness. After all, he is the King Slayer.
I’m pumped for the new season, which will debut Sunday, July 16th. For now, check out the official trailer, and drop your thoughts in the comments below!
