One of the surprise hit phones from last year just so happened to be a Motorola release. The Moto Z Play turned heads with its highly unusual design and mind-boggling battery life. Moto and Lenovo found the perfect balance with the Moto Z Play, combining high-end specs and design, with a mid-range price point. This year Moto is looking to repeat the successes they had with both Moto Z devices from last year. The Moto Z2 Play aims to keep the company at the top of an ever-growing list of feature packed Android devices.
At first glance, the Moto Z2 Play is a gorgeously built phone. The design has been changed from an extremely fingerprint vulnerable glass back, to an all metal [...]
Smartphone manufacturers have been scrambling to come up with the next great phone. Keeping up with the monster sales of the iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy devices would be a daunting task for anyone. LG in particular has tried several different approaches to design, with each one facing a different scrutiny. The LG G3 and G4 weren’t “premium” enough. The G5 was cool because it was modular, but too weird. There always seems to be something fatally wrong with LG phones that causes consumers to overlook them. LG went back to the drawing board and created the LG G6 with the intention of creating a truly premium device, that gave you no choice but to take a second [...]
I remember the very first Samsung Galaxy phone that I ever purchased. It wasn’t even called the Galaxy at that point. No, instead it was called the Samsung Captivate, it was ugly and bulky. From there the Samsung Galaxy S II was released, this was the first time Samsung openly admitted they were building a true competitor to the iPhone. This continued for several years, and they have failed at almost every turn. Until they finally struck gold with the Samsung Galaxy S7. The Galaxy S7 was well crafted, well built, and had a really good software experience to back it. This was the first phone that could actually compete with iPhone on the level of build quality, and software [...]
Four months ago I received the beautiful quartz grey ZTE Axon 7 from Newegg. Since then, I have been using the Axon as my daily driver. When I first decided to order the phone I was sceptical due to some of my poor experiences with the ZTE brand. The marketing, build, tech and the 2 year warranty persuaded me to give it a try and I am a huge fan of this phone. I would like to share my experience of using the ZTE Axon for the last four months.
The body of the Axon held up surprisingly well over these last 4 months. Since I received the phone, I have exclusively used the clear case that was packaged with it. The case is thin and incredibly flexible, but it’s managed to keep [...]
